First Generation

1. Jesse Oren1 Haug was born in Miltonville, KS August 3, 1882. Jesse died November 21, 1975 in Norman, OK, at 93 years of age. His body was interred in Edmond, OK.

He married Elva Caroline McBurney in Thomas, Custer, OK, June 24, 1908. Elva was born in Durham, IA August 11, 1883. Elva was the daughter of George Washington McBurney and Frances Zeleika Steele. Elva died September 15, 1949 in Norman, OK, at 66 years of age. Her body was interred September 20, 1949 in Edmond, OK.

Jesse Oren Haug and Elva Caroline McBurney had the following children:

child 5 iv. Virginia C. Haug was born April 14, 1919. Virginia died September 1, 1940 in Norman, OK, at 21 years of age. An article in the Oklahoma City Oklahoman newspaper stated 20 year old University of Oklahoma freshman was found shot to death in the Norman home of her parents the result of a self-inflicted shotgun wound. Evidence indicated she put the shotgun to her temple and pulled the trigger with her toe. Her stocking and shoe had been removed. Members of the family were in the backyard at the time of the shooting shortly after 1 p.m. Virginia's mother told investigators her daughter had complained earlier in the day that she was beginning to forget things, and was afraid she would have to return to the Central State hospital for treatment. Virginia was treated at the institution from May 7, 1935 to September 22 of that year and again from May 1, 1937 to September 9, 1937. Physicians described her as a "manic depressive" type. Virginia is buried in the Memorial Park Cemetary in Oklahoma City, OK.
