1. James¹ Hanna was born in Ireland October 21, 1814. James died December 21, 1884 in Tama County, Iowa, at 70 years of age.

He married Mary Ann Bruner in Iowa City, IA, March 21, 1861. Mary was born in Sandusky County, OH December 5, 1828. Mary was the daughter of Christian Bruner and Margaret Rebecca Foust. Mary died May 17, 1898 in Conrad, Grundy County, Iowa, at 69 years of age. James is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery.

James Hanna and Mary Ann Bruner had the following children:

2 i. James Samual² Hanna. He married Effie Prescott in Grundy County, IA, November 15, 1893. Effie was the daughter of Greenwood Prescott and Susan King.

3 ii. Elvira Dessimer Hanna was born July 13, 1862. She married Robert Thompson 1888. Elvira is buried in Bozeman, Montana.

4 iii. Mary Delphene Hanna was born January 8, 1864. Mary died November 26, 1925 at 61 years of age. She married John William Baird March 21, 1899.
